Jim Marolda has over 15 years of technical and managerial expertise on hydrogeological investigations and engineering evaluations for former MGP sites including: site characterization and remedial investigation planning and implementation; pre-design investigation planning and implementation; alternatives analysis/feasibility study development; remedial action work plan development; and hydrogeological support during remedial design and remedial construction activities. Jim’s main focus is to determine the nature and extent of MGP-related impacts including identifying and characterizing the degree of saturation of NAPL in overburden soil and consolidated bedrock media and assessing the lateral and vertical extents of dissolved-phase contamination. Additionally, Jim developed an approach for characterizing the substantial subsurface impediments at former MGP sites to estimate quantities of subsurface obstructions requiring demolition/removal to implement remediation on site. This pre-design information provides a higher level of cost certainty during the development of remedial cost estimates for sites that need to address subsurface impediments as a component of the remedy.
